Truth behind capital clubs’ dash for cash, 22 June 2003

An extensive spread on the ground-share proposals, with much re-hashing of the arguments already aired in previous days, augmented by pro and con pieces from Hearts’ John Colquhoun and Hibs’ Charlie Reid respectively. Colquhoun’s solitary offer is that the move would result in loads of cash for both clubs and enable them to challenge the Old Firm. That line is sternly questioned by Paul Forsyth in the main article, pointing out that the Scottish Media Group had already invested £8 million into Hearts and seen it disappear ‘like snow off the roof of the Wheatfield stand’ with no discernible challenge emerging from Hearts on the park.
